Words.

I search for them. They’re not always easy to find. It’s easier to find them when I’m writing to myself. Sometimes they come pouring out. When I write to others, I edit many times. Why? I have so much to say, but I fear that others won’t like my…words. I fear that others won’t be able to relate.

So. I go over words. Again, and again. Until I’m tired, and until it’s late. Until my bed is shouting out my name! Finally, I execute in hopes that my words are good. Positive feedback means the world! When you write–words. When you write–thoughts. Especially when they come from that innermost place.

I sometimes try to imagine I’m having a cup of coffee with a friend while I write. It helps. It reminds me that the world is more compassionate than I think. I don’t have to be afraid of anything. Words are more powerful than you know. Don’t underestimate them.

It’s worth it to write! It’s worth taking the time! Not only to practice the art, but to explore who you are. Who you are meant to touch and who you are meant to meet. In turn, you are also touched! All because someone read your…words. All because someone read your…heart. It’s a beautiful thing.

  1. Zina, you are hearing the advice and counsel of the Holy Spirit. You are an incredibly talented writer who has the passion necessary to positively impact the lives of many. I believe your calling in particular is to be a light in the darkness for the least of God’s children who feel the isolation, the desperation, the almost breathless panic of receiving the word that “you ate paralyzed”

As one of those children please continue to write and put it out there for us. You never know who you may be providing a lifeline to,or words that dissuade a newly paraplegic from making a sad, regrettable decision. It takes one with your passion, energy, talent, and fierce angst, to pen just the right mix of written words, as inspired, coached and directed by the Holy Spirit. –Listen carefully and let it rip! This is your calling….
